About Gabriel R. Tolentino
Hello, I’m Gabe—an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, EMDR Therapist, and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with over 20 years of experience helping people find their way through life’s toughest moments.
I believe healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about reconnecting with your strength, clarity, and hope.
Qualifications
I hold a Master of Counselling Social Work from UNSW and a Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution Practice from The College of Law. I’m an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers, a Certified EMDR Therapist, and a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
How I Can Help
Counselling & Therapy
I have a particular passion for supporting people through trauma and PTSD, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, addiction and substance use, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. My approach draws on evidence-based therapies including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy—all tailored to what works best for you.
Family Dispute Resolution
As a qualified and registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General’s Department, I provide professional mediation for families navigating separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, and financial settlements. This service offers a constructive path forward that prioritises wellbeing and future relationships without the need for court proceedings.
My Approach
I work with connection, collaboration, and empowerment at the core of everything I do.
This means creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can be yourself. It means building on your existing strengths rather than focusing solely on problems. It means developing practical tools you can use in everyday life, and working at your pace while honouring your unique story.
You’re the expert on your life. I’m here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, support, and proven strategies for lasting change.
Ready to Begin?
You don’t have to navigate this alone. When you’re ready, I’d be honoured to support your journey towards healing and wellbeing.

Mio is an Australian Cobberdog who brings warmth, comfort, and a gentle presence to GRT Counselling in Nowra and Uniquely You Psychology at Albion Park. As a therapy dog, Mio has a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and accepted.
With her naturally curious nature, Mio loves meeting new people and exploring the world around her. While she’s calm and soothing most of the time—perfect for creating a peaceful atmosphere during sessions—she can get excited when greeting familiar faces or discovering something new. Her enthusiasm is contagious and often brings smiles to those who need them most.
One of Mio’s greatest strengths is her complete lack of judgement. She accepts everyone exactly as they are, offering unconditional support and companionship. Her presence can help ease anxiety and create a safe, comfortable space for healing and growth.
Mio has a wonderfully goofy side that reminds us not to take life too seriously. She’s a true optimist—a half-full cup kind of dog—who approaches each day with joy and positivity.
Like all of us, Mio is a work in progress. She’s currently learning about personal space and boundaries (sometimes she just loves being close a little too much!), which makes her relatable and endearing. Her journey reminds us that growth and learning are lifelong processes.
Whether you’re visiting GRT Counselling or Uniquely You Psychology, you might just find that Mio’s gentle presence is exactly what you need.

At GRT Counselling, your journey towards growth & recovery is a journey of Connection, Collaboration & Empowerment.
Together, we will navigate the path to a more fulfilled and empowered self.
Growth & Recovery Through Counselling
At GRT Counselling, we believe in the transformative power of Connection, Collaboration, and Empowerment in fostering personal growth and facilitating recovery. Our approach is grounded in these three core principles, each playing a vital role in your journey towards healing and self-discovery.
Here’s how we do it:
Connection: The Foundation of Our Practice
Deep Understanding: We prioritise building a deep, empathetic connection with every individual. Understanding your unique story and experiences is the first step towards meaningful change.
Safe Space: Our space is all about trust and being open. You can share your thoughts freely here, without any worry.
Collaboration: The Path We Walk Together
Tailored Strategies: Recognising that each journey is unique, we collaborate closely with you to tailor strategies that resonate with your personal goals and challenges.
Shared Decision-Making: Your opinions matter a lot. Together, we navigate the healing process, making decisions that align with your values and aspirations.
Empowerment: The Destination We Aim For
Building Strengths: We focus on helping you see and use your strengths, giving you the tools and confidence to keep growing and healing on your own.
Fostering Independence: Our ultimate goal is to see you thrive independently, ready to handle whatever comes your way with confidence, resilience and self-awareness.
"The mind is created within relationships, including the one that you have with yourself."

WE ACKNOWLEDGE & PAY OUR RESPECTS
We acknowledge and pay respects to the Traditional Custodians and Elders of the Yuin Nation, past, present, and emerging. We recognize their continuing connection to the land, waters, and culture. We also acknowledge the important contributions of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the ongoing process of reconciliation and healing. This acknowledgement is a way to show respect and appreciation for the land and the people who have lived on it for thousands of years. It is also a way to recognize the ongoing struggles and injustices faced by Aboriginal communities and to commit to working towards reconciliation and healing.
